KING LEBRON NEEDS SOME SQUIRES

The Cavaliers fell short against the Boston Celtics in their second round match-up in the NBA playoffs. They pushed it to a game 7 against the best team in the league, but lost 97-92. Lebron James played a brilliant game, busting out of his shooting slump that plagued him the majority of the series.

Overall, I think James played well in this year's playoffs. He was dominate against the Wizards, and at times against the Celtics. But the problem is basketball is a team sport. There were times when the only person who could score for the Cavs was Lebron. Last night, that was even more noticeable as the Celtics put on the defensive clamps.

Last year, Lebron carried his team all the way through the playoffs, but when they got to the finals, the Spurs spanked them. Why? Because Lebron is really the only player on the team. When he plays bad, or teams triple team him, he has few teammates he can count on to make baskets.

Zdrunas Ilgauskas is a decent big man. He can hit the mid-range jumper and be a pretty tough rebounder, and with Ben Wallace rotating in to help on the boards, I think the Cavs are pretty solid at that position. Delonte West provided to be a key contributor in the series. But neither one those players can consistently contribute at a level to make the Cavs a legitimate title contender.

Michael Jordan was the best player to ever play the game, but if he had a help. Without Scottie Pippen, I don't think the Bulls would have been the same team. Kobe got a great player in Pau Gasol which has made the Lakers a beastly team that could give anyone a run for their money. Now the Cavs absolutely have to do something to help Lebron.

They made that huge trade this past season, but who did they get? Ben Wallace? Oh yeah, he is a great scorer! Maybe in the d-league. Wally Szcerbiak? He can hit one out of ten threes, I could do that.

The Cavaliers need to make some serious considerations on what they should do this offseason. They need to be smart and calculating. Whether its through free agency, trades, or the draft, they have to find someone to help Lebron James. Get the King some squires, please!
